We were introduced to our favorite card game, Five Crowns, several years back at a Rose Parade "tailgate" in Pasadena. Everyone was huddled up around the game and once we had our first experience, we were hooked. I immediately ordered our own deck and it has since traveled with us on every trip around the world as well as around to countless spots in NYC.
Five Crowns is described as a "five-suited rummy-style game with a rotating wild card" and is relatively quick to learn. We have found it's easiest when teaching new people to play a couple practice rounds with 6 or 7 cards so everyone can get the feel of how the game works. It's hard to find a game that is equally as fun to play with just two people as it is with a larger crowd but Five Crowns fits the bill. It's compact enough to always be in my purse and perfect for any location from bars to airports to poolsides.
In the past few years I have always had a big lead on Andy during our games, usually winning every ten times to his, maybe one. However, 2018 seems to be Andy's year so far and he has been crushing me! We have a lot of travel coming up so I am sure there will be many games of Five Crowns in our future. I'll keep you posted on the record book but you can be sure there will be many more times to come with the same view.
As you can see this game has traveled with us from coast to coast and will continue to be our go-to game to play together or with a group of friends or family. Have you ever played? We haven't introduced it to anyone yet who hasn't loved it.
