I had seen this idea on Pinterest early on in our wedding planning and since we were getting married at the Brooklyn Winery, I thought they would be a perfect fit. To accomplish this task we enlisted friends and family to save their wine corks and share their collection with us. Our graphic designer added these simple name cards into our invitation suite and then we assembled them. It wasn't a quite task but with a few serrated knives, a little assembly line and some trial and error, we created over 130 place cards. Make sure to ask for some extra place cards for practice your technique before using the guests' cards. The corks allowed the cards to stand up on their own and the simple black and white design matched our theme of the night.
With so many out of town guests coming to NYC for our wedding, we wanted to be sure to have an extra special welcome bag ready upon their arrival. The totes on Etsy and similar sites can run upwards of $20/bag and I knew that wasn't a possibility but I was determined to use our logo. After lots of searching, I discovered Cheaptotes.com and they were incredible to work with! Each bag was less than $2.00 including the custom logo. We were able to order 75 bags for under $200!Read More
Our wedding's colors were black and white so that was the trend I wanted to stick with when it came to the florals-classic, simple and tight bouquets. I knew I wanted my favorites to make an appearance: hydrangeas, peonies, ranunculus and the show stoppers, anemones to draw in the black. I have also been at weddings where the florals take center stage and not the event or setting itself and I didn't want that to be the case. I wanted the florals to blend with the venue and also allow guests to freely speak to other guests across the table from them. Beyond that I used Pinterest to browse ideas and share inspiration with my incredible floral designer, Emily from Emily Reid Events. I am such a visual person so beyond explaining some basic ideas, I needed her to see my vision from my board and bring back some ideas. It is so important to hire someone who can execute your vision and also be flexible and open-minded to your changes. She was able to bring all my floral dreams to life and I could not recommend working with her more if you're in the NYC area!Read More
Engagement photos. People either love them or hate them. I personally, loved doing them. We are not fancy and dressed up on a daily basis and our go-to attire weekend attire is jeans. I love that we are able to have professional photos around our apartment that show us in more of a natural state, in our neighborhood, rather than just us all dolled up for our wedding day. Many photographers will also include these pictures in your package, so why not? We didn't send out Save the Dates but they are a great option to use for those too!
