Midtown Christmas Tour: all the best stops including window displays and trees!
Start at Bloomingdale’s on 59th/Lexington, walk across 59th to 5th Avenue
Once you hit the park, take a left on 5th Avenue and head towards the Plaza Hotel
After checking out the Plaza’s decor, head to Bergdorf Goodman to see their windows
As you walk down 5th Avenue, you will pass some of the most expensive stores in the city all decked out for the holidays including Tiffany’s & Cartier
At 55th Street, make a quick right and check out the Peninsula Hotel’s incredible decorations then walk back to 5th
At 51st, make a left and walk one avenue to Madison to check out the Lotte Hotel’s outdoor Christmas tree
Then make a right on 50th Street and enter St. Patrick’s Cathedral side entrance between Madison and 5th Avenue to check out the church decked out for the Christmas
Once you exit the front of the Church, make a left and cross 50th street to check out the windows at Saks 5th Avenue
Across the street from Saks is the famous Rockefeller Center tree and skating rink
Make your way around the area and also don’t forget to stop in the newly re-opened FAO Schwartz. If it’s a clear day, my favorite rooftop view in the city is at Top of the Rock just behind the tree. Radio City Music Hall is also across the street!
Head behind the tree to 6th Avenue to check out the giants ornaments and lights on display
Turn left on 6th Avenue and head downtown to 42nd Street where you will find the Bryant Park Christmas Markets and skating rink. Walking down 6th will also give you a brief respite from the crowds
Once you’ve experience what Bryant Park has to offer, head back to 5th Avenue to check out the windows at (soon to be closed) Lord & Taylor flagship store between 38th & 39th
The last stop on this uptown tour is Macy’s back over on 6th Avenue and 34th s. You can cross any block between 38th & 34th
